Stretch, Breathe, Grow: Preschool Yoga with Judith

At our nursery, we are always looking for meaningful ways to support children’s wellbeing — not just physically, but emotionally too. That’s why we’re so pleased to offer preschool yoga sessions every Tuesday morning, led by our wonderful instructor, Judith.

These sessions have quickly become a favourite part of the week, giving children the chance to slow down, move their bodies, and find a sense of calm in a busy day.

What Does Yoga Look Like at Triangle House?

Yoga at nursery is very different from an adult class — it’s fun, imaginative, and full of energy (with moments of calm woven in!).

Judith brings yoga to life through:

  • Storytelling and themed sessions
  • Animal poses and playful movements
  • Breathing exercises made simple and engaging
  • Gentle relaxation at the end of each session

Whether the children are stretching like cats, balancing like trees, or pretending to be fluttering butterflies, they are learning important skills without even realising it.

The Benefits for Children

Yoga offers so many valuable benefits for young children, supporting their development in a holistic way:

Emotional wellbeing
Yoga helps children recognise and manage their feelings. Breathing exercises and relaxation techniques can support children in calming themselves and feeling more in control.

Physical development
Through stretching, balancing, and moving, children build strength, coordination, and body awareness — all key skills at this stage of development.

Focus and concentration
Following simple instructions and holding poses helps to improve listening skills and attention, which supports learning across all areas.

Confidence and self-esteem
Yoga is non-competitive, allowing every child to take part at their own pace. This helps build confidence and encourages children to feel proud of what their bodies can do.

A Calm Moment in a Busy Day

Preschool life can be full of excitement and activity, so having dedicated time to pause and reset is incredibly valuable. Our Tuesday morning yoga sessions give children that opportunity — a moment to breathe, stretch, and simply be.

Judith has created a calm, welcoming environment where children feel safe to explore movement and relaxation. It’s lovely to see how they respond, often leaving sessions feeling more settled and ready to continue their day.

Growing Healthy Minds and Bodies

By introducing yoga at an early age, we are helping children develop lifelong skills — from managing emotions to staying active and mindful.

We are so proud to offer these sessions each week and to see the positive impact they are having on our preschool children.
